Georgene Dwyer is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor specializing in individual, couples and family psychotherapy , and maintains a private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also offers online counseling and telephone counseling.
With over 20 years experience as a clinician, and a graduate of Oklahoma State University and Northeastern State University specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are assisting clients through life transitions, relationships (including pre-marital counseling), depression, anxiety, stress management, parenting issues, finding one's creative spirit, setting and meeting personal, career, spiritual and relational goals.
In addition, Georgene has presented at conferences, workshops and to general audiences on topics ranging from stress management, taking care of aging parents, relationships, student and parental expectations of college, current mental health legislative issues, stages of grief and loss, holiday stress, assertiveness training, anger management, and developing the creative spirit.

Her treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. She incorporates a blend of conventional and alternatives approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. Education
Georgene received her undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University and her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern State University.

Georgene completed a Post-Master's Internship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Tulsa Psychiatric Center and Parkside Community Mental Health Center.

Georgene is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma. She is also a National Board Certified Counselor, as well as being an approved Supervisor for LPC licensees in Oklahoma.
Georgene was awarded the Oklahoma Counseling Association's Northeast Region Counselor of the Year Award in 2000, the OCA Human Rights Award in 1997 and 2000, and the Oklahoma Counseling Association's Jeannie Banks Spark of Life Award in 2000.
Professional Activities and Memberships
Georgene has been an active member of the American Counseling Association, the Oklahoma Counseling Association, the Oklahoma Mental Health Counselors Association, the Oklahoma Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, the Oklahoma Association of Counselor Education and Supervision. She served as Public Policy and Legislation Chair for OCA, and a Past President of the Oklahoma Mental Health Counselors Association, and is President-elect of the Oklahoma Counseling Association. In 1998, she received the American Counseling Association Emerging Leader Grant to the Mid-West Regional Conference.
